The NWJIP Choice and Control programme works across adult social care and health, sharing learning from the implementation of personalised approaches across both sectors.
In addition, the programme connects beyond statutory services and into the independent and voluntary sectors as well as working directly with disabled people and their families and supporters to influence the local delivery of policy.
You can find news and information about all aspects of Choice and Control along with regional case studies at the Putting People First website.
Overview
In the final year of the Transforming Adult Social Care (TASC) policy implementation, the sector consortium agreed to focus on the delivery of personal budgets by local authorities. This will be the focal aspect of the programme, which will support the delivery of sector consortium milestones throughout 2010, and towards the NI 130 targets of 2011.
The programme will support the development of local infrastructures in health and social care arenas with the capacity building of user led organisations (ULOs) and local involvement networks (LINks).
Finally, the programme will be overseen by a multi stakeholder programme board, which will include partnership with disabled people and families through the NW Citizen Leaders programme.
